Description
Visit the Greater Caucasus Mountains and explore Tusheti and historical Georgian provinces of Kakheti and Pshav to get a thorough understanding of Georgian history and culture. Visit the Mongol Castles and Pichekhi Castles; walk along the shepherds' trail in Chigo and Dartlo villages; trek up the Nachaiko pass to take in gorgeous views of the Caucasus, and visit Bochorona, the highest inhabited settlement in all of Europe.
Itinerary

Day 1: Tbilisi to Omalo
Depart from Tbilisi at 7:00 AM and head to Tusheti via the Gombori Pass.
Arrive at the guesthouse in Tusheti, just outside Omelo around mid-afternoon and enjoy lunch.
Go for an afternoon visit to Zemo Omalo, known for its castles constructed during the Mongal invasion of Georgia in the 1230s.
Return to guesthouse for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Shenako, Diklo & Pichekhi Castles
Enjoy breakfast and then transfer to Shenako, where you will visit the Church of the Trinity.
- Eat Lunch and begin trek to the ancient village of Diklo. From Diklo, walk 15 kilometres to the Pichekhi Castles, located close to the Dagestan border offering amazing views from the castle ruins.
- Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse in Shenako.

Day 3: Diklo, Chigho & Dartlo
After breakfast, at around 9:00 AM, start hiking to Tusheti, crossing the Pirikiti Valley to see the Chigo and Dartlo villages via a beautiful little-used shepherds trail (15 kilometres)
Stop en-route for a picnic lunch in the valley and enjoy coffee with locals.
- Retreat for dinner and overnight stay at guesthouse in Dartlo.

Day 4: Parsma to Dochu via Nakaicho pass
Enjoy an early breakfast and set out for a journey along a dirt road to the village of Parsma.
From Parsma, take a strenuous trek up to the Nakaicho Pass, which offers stunning 360-degree views of the Caucasus and the border with Chechnya.
Eat lunch and then descend into the Gometsari Valley and head for our accommodation in the village of Dochu at a distance of 17 kilometres.
Retreat for dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse in Dochu.

Day 5: Back to Omalo
Set out for a return journey to Omalo.
En route, stop at Bochorona, the highest inhabited settlement in Europe.
Overnight stay at the guesthouse in Omalo.

Day 6: Final Departure
After breakfast, head for Tbilisi via the Abano Pass at 2,800 meters, where there will be time to stop for photographs and enjoy the amazing views over the Caucasus mountain range.
