Description
This excursion will appeal to all those who love heights, views of rock formations, and deep gorges and are looking for places to get into and explore for themselves. We are going with you to the Kvemo Kartli region, which is spread across southern Georgia near the Lesser Caucasus Range. Here nature is radically different from the views from any other part of Georgia. Here, pastures crown deep canyons, and dense mixed forests cover the hills, creating turquoise reservoirs for irrigating land and maintaining fish farms.
Itinerary
-
Dashbashi Canyon
- Today, we are going to Dashbashi Canyon. Nature is the best Creator, and here you will be convinced of this again. An extended canyon with a garland of flowing waterfalls, with a difference in height when descending to its bottom and dizzying views from the upper observation platforms.
- For several years, an Israeli company has been working on a Georgian government project to create an unusual observation deck in the shape of a diamond, suspended like a necklace over the canyon itself. This glass bridge and cafe in the diamond itself allows you to enjoy breathtaking views over the abyss into the canyon. The walk from the glass bridge to the bottom of the canyon and back can be classified as medium difficulty and takes up to 3 hours.
-
Algeti Reservoir
- On the road from the canyon, we will admire the turquoise surface of the Algeti reservoir.
- It was constructed under Soviet Union rule on the Algeti River, and it lays in the middle of the the picturisque Algeti National Park.
- This national park stretches along the upper Algeti Valley at the woody southern slopes of the eastern Trialeti Range, with the highest point being Mount Kldekari at 2,000 m above sea level. The park was founded under the Soviet government in 1965 as a state reserve to protect the easternmost limits of the Caucasian Spruce and Nordmann Fir.
- This attractive reservoir is an essential part of the economy and strengthens the development potential of the region. It provides irrigation for the livestock villages of Tbisi and Kumisi. In addition, it supplies drinking water to a few local villages.
-
Asureti Village
- Having enjoyed and been inspired by the heights, we will go to the German settlement to taste Shalo wine, which is endemic to this region. Here, you will find out under what circumstances the German colonies came to the Caucasus and what trace and legacy they left in Georgian culture. If you wish, for the additional payment you can dine at the family farm right there in the garden, tasting traditional dishes of this region.
