Itinerary
-
Freedom Square
Freedom Square is the heart of our capital. All important events are celebrated here. For example, the tall Freedom Stella turns into a luminous Christmas tree. Here you will learn more about the development of Tbilisi outside the city walls in the 19th century. We will look at the oldest buildings on the square and discuss the events they witnessed.
-
Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theater
Passing the avenue of "contrasts" with the remains of the fortress walls, we get to the Puppet Theatre, in the repertoire of performances only for an adult audience. This place is comfortably decorated with a fabulous tower with charming painted ceramics; it occupies the top spot in photos of Tbilisi sights. And twice a day on her hurdy-gurdy balcony, you can see a two-minute musical puppet show, “The Cycle of Life”.
-
Bridge of Peace
The ultra-modern style - chrome and glass - initially caused doubts among the townspeople regarding the "correctness and appropriateness" of the project. Now it is one of the symbols of the city, loved by Google and social algorithms—networks with their popular species at any time of the day or night and in any season. Time judged the dispute in the then split Tbilisi society, when youth and youth were inspired by modernism in the center of the old city, and maturity shook its head, doubting the possibility of combining radical innovations and familiar classics. Now there is a good observation deck with gorgeous views of the Tbilisi streets of both embankments.
-
Narikala Fortress
The oldest part of the Old Town is the fortress and the houses adjacent to its foot, with an ensemble of openwork balconies. Dominating Tbilisi, this fortress consists of two walled sections on a mountain range between the botanical garden and the oldest part of the city, called Kala. The fortress was built in Arabic; this guardian of the city stood here long before our city became the capital.
-
Fig Gorge
A natural canyon in the middle of the old city forms the second stage of the cascading waterfall of the Tsavkisitskali River. This place, literally ten years ago, was part of the territory of the botanical garden and, even earlier, the royal gardens. On the slopes of the canyon, fig tree sprouts make their way, which grows in large numbers along the top of the canyon in the Batonian Garden itself.
-
The Sulfur Baths District
A beautiful place in the heart of the old city. This corner in the past was called "Kharpukh" - the nose. Why? But about this on the spot, since the question requires: "closer consideration." Baths have been and remain an important cultural and traditional component of the public life of Tbilisi. Our baths have been standing on sulfur healing springs for centuries, and now you may also want to feel like a Tbilisi citizen and visit here.
