Description
Explore Vardzia, Tmogvi, Gelsunda, Nijgori and Saro on a 3-day trip. Starting from Tbilisi(the capital and the largest city of Georgia), the initial transfer is at Vardzia, including multiple stops. Go trekking about 3 km to Zeda Tmogvi and 5 km to the fortress ruins in Tmogvi, a ruined fortress and medieval town in the southern Georgian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti, from there go for a 7 Km journey to the Gelsunda caves, to Khertvisi and the fortress, where Alexander the Great passed. The trip ends with a short excursion to Saro and nearby seeings.
Itinerary

Day 1- Transfer from Tbilisi to Vardzia
Transfer from Tbilisi to Vardzia with stops in Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe, visiting the cave town, trekking about 5 km to the fortress ruins in Tmogvi.
Overnight in tents or caves in Tmogvi.

Day 2- Trek to village Nijgori
Trek to Zeda Tmogvi about 3 km with your Georgia tour guide.
From there, move to the Gelsunda caves 7 km, to Khertvisi and the fortress.
Take another km to the village Nijgori, where old settlements, ruins of a mosque and a church from 12 century are close by
night near the village in the canyon, or in a cave with a nice view.

Day 3- Saro excursion and transfer to Tbilisi
Take a short excursion to Saro, with another beautiful church and stonewalls, and Toloshi.
Transfer to Tbilisi on another road, passing Paravani lake.
