Coventry Cathedral Quarter Tour
- Connect with your tour guide, to start the tour from Lady Godiva's statue in Broadgate Coventry.
- Take a tour through the "Cathedral Quarter". We will not go inside any of the buildings and the exact route to be taken may vary depending on events that may be taking place on the day.
- Visit the uncovered remains of Coventry's first cathedral and find out how this led to Coventry becoming one of the most important and affluent cities during the 14th and 15th centuries.
- Then, head to the two large parish churches in the city centre, Holy Trinity Church and St Michael's, which was largely destroyed by bombing in World War II, but is still a consecrated site with regular services taking place there.
- Next, go to the 1960s, "New" cathedral which now forms part of the same precinct as St Michael's. The area around the cathedral still has its medieval cobbled streets and some fine examples of half-timbered buildings, including its Guildhall. Explore the medieval Guildhall, Draper's Hall and the building which was once the county court, but is now a pub.
- Afterwards, proceed to the best-preserved section of Coventry's medieval city wall and its two remaining gateways.
Tour ends.
