Our idea of sustainability at the Taiga School we find the balance between man and nature is very important. That is why we are working intensively on being self-sustainable.We make maximum use of recycled, organic and local products and we grow our own products in greenhouses, with custom-made compost. We do not serve meat in relation to minimizing our carbon footprint.Only in our smoke oven cooked fish is on the table, provided it is caught in the pure lake in front of the Taiga School, Lake Kitka. Our environment The Taiga School stands in the heart of Finland, the largest fresh-water source in the country, Lake Kitka and in the middle of the Taiga forest with trees more than six hundred years old. We're at about a thirty-minute drive from the Ruka ski paradise. The Taiga School is a base for visits to several national parks, Lapland and beautiful locations to see the northern lights. Our activities The Taiga School can take many special activities such as ice fishing, trips to and from Hossa National Park, take a sleigh ride with huskies or immerse yourself in the traditional rituals of the Finish sauna. You can choose to stay in our cabin or stay in our hotel. Each activity guarantees a unique and unforgettable experience!
