Itinerary

1. Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

   • Get picked up from the hotel or place of choice within Nairobi.
   • Drive through Mombasa road towards Amboseli National Park with a game drive en-route.
   • Arrive in time for lunch.
   • After lunch, you may choose between taking a nap or going for a swim at the lodge before taking a late afternoon game drive.
   • From 9.00 am to 9.30 am,  Maasai morans will entertain you with their traditional dances. Learn more about the significance of these dances as you huddle around the bonfire.
   • You are encouraged to join in and see if you could jump higher than a Maasai.

   Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge/Kibo Safari Camp.

2. Day 2: Amboseli National Park

   • Take an early morning game drive, returning to the lodge for breakfast.

   • After breakfast, you may opt for an extra game drive or relax/swim.

   • After lunch, proceed to an afternoon game drive or a visit to the Maasai Cultural Village.

   Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

3. Day 3: Amboseli National Park to Lake Nakuru

   • After breakfast, check out and proceed toward Nakuru, through Nairobi.
   • Stop for lunch and savour the fascinating views of the Rift Valley.
   • Arrive late in the evening, relax and then set out for an evening game viewing drive. The lake park is home to one of the most remarkable wild bird population.

4. Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara

   • Wake up to an early morning game viewing and bird watching drive around the park.
   • Return to the camp for breakfast.
   • Drive west past Mount Longonot, through Narok to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
   • Arrive in time for lunch. You will settle into your tent and enjoy lunch while looking into the Maasai Mara Reserve.
   • At around 4 pm, meet your Guide for an Afternoon Game Drive. As the temperature cools in the late afternoon, the predators of the Mara start preparing for the evening hunt. For the Big Cats – the lions, the cheetah and the leopards – the Migration Season is a time of abundance.
   • As the sun sets, return to the lodge for dinner, followed by stargazing and story-time around the fireplace. When you’re ready, one of the Maasai night guards – known as Askaris – will escort you back to your room.

5. Day 5: Masai Mara

   • Wake up to the magnificent ‘wake up call’ symphony of Masai Mara’s astonishing birdlife.
   • Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before embarking on a full-day safari in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Don’t forget your camera since it is a beautiful time of the year for photography: the air is clear and bright, and the bush alive with vibrant colour and new life creating great photo opportunities. The incredible backdrop of clear blues and the rolling Savannah will captivate you, providing you with memories to last a lifetime.
   • Catch the action as the predators hunt their prey and stalk the herds, capturing them with your lens and in your heart. Enjoy an exceptional wilderness, for there is never a dull moment on the savannah.
   • Return to camp at sundown for dinner, followed by relaxation at the campfire as you tell of your experiences in the African wilderness

   • Begin with an early morning wake up call and a steaming cup of coffee.
   • Get an adrenaline rush with a hot air balloon ride cutting through the cool air of the plains as herds of elephants, buffalo and zebra scatter in search of food below you.
   • Upon landing- you are treated to a breakfast, and your guide will then take you either back to the camp for a well-deserved nap or continue on a game drive.
   • Return for lunch and an afternoon nap.
   • Later go out for an evening game drive returning to camp for a hearty dinner and cold beer.

6. Day 6: Masai Mara

   • Wake up to the magnificent ‘wake up call’ of  Masai Mara’s astonishing birdlife.
   • After breakfast, meet your Naturalist Maasai Guide for a walk around the compound.
   • During your walk, get introduced to some of the operational elements that have made Basecamp a leading pioneer in responsible tourism.
   • Visit the Basecamp Maasai Brand (BMB) workshop, one of its capacity-building projects that employ 118 women.
   • Complete your walk by planting a tree in the Tree Plantation, just like the Obama family did when they stayed in the camp.
   • Head for a freshly prepared lunch, served underneath the trees overlooking the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
   • Stroll across the private suspension bridge to join your Driver Guide for an afternoon game drive. Finish your Game Drive with a traditional Basecamp Sundowner under an Acacia Tree.
   • Return to BCMM for dinner, followed by story sharing and stargazing around the fireplace.

   • Catch the action as the predators hunt their prey and stalk the herds just like the lions and the cheetahs, capturing them with your lens and in your heart. 
   • Return to camp at sundown for dinner, followed by relaxation at the campfire as you tell of your experiences in the African wilderness.

7. Day 7: Masai Mara to Nairobi

   • Wake at dawn in time for a final walking safari or a game drive.

   • Witness how the savannah comes alive as the sun rises.

   • Return for breakfast and collect your things. Just like the wildebeest, the time has come to wander on.

   • Drive back to Nairobi, traversing the vast plains of Maasai land on the floor of Rift valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelles as you head up the Mau escarpment.

   • Arrive in Nairobi in the early afternoon in time for your flight back home.
