Itinerary

1. Day 1: Nairobi - Old Moses Camp

   • Arrival at Nairobi, Kenya. 
   • Start the tour with a briefing at the hotel.
   • Take an hour drive that follows to the Sirimon with a short rough road drive in the semi-forested part of the montane region.
   • Continue 1hr to Sirimon Gate 2650m.
   • Hike 9km through the rainforest to Old Moses Camp 3300m.

   Stay for the night.

2. Day 2: Old Moses - Shipton Camp

   • Start the hike at 7 am, after breakfast.
   • Taking 6 hours, traverse the Moorland to join Mackinder Valley for a picnic lunch.
   • Arrive at Shipton early evening.

   Spend the night in the camp.

3. Day 3: Shipton Camp - Hausberg Col

   • Gear up for a day filled with intense acclimatization.
   • Walk up the ridge till you reach the top of Hausberg Valley, at 4550m.
   • Descend back to Shipton for hot lunch.

   Stay overnight in the hut.

4. Day 4: Shipton Camp - Point Lenana - Meru Mt Kenya Lodge

   • Leave early morning at 03:00 am after coffee and cookies.
   • Attempt the steep ridge leading to the 3rd highest peak on Mt. Kenya; this takes 3 hours for timely arrival at the summit Point Lenana 4985 m.
   • Embark on a rapid descent to the east along the Chogoria route.
   • Stop for breakfast at the halls tarns. The route is the most scenic with the table hills and the spectacular Canyon.
   • Continue downward for a picnic lunch, on the road ahead.
   • Proceed for a 2-hour walk to arrive at the Meru Mt. Kenya lodge, known as the Bandas, for an overnight stay.

5. Day 5: Meru Mt Kenya Lodge to Chogoria Town, Nairobi

   • Walk 10km through the bamboo and rain forest to connect a jeep to Chogoria village, post breakfast at 07:00 am.
   • Drive on for 3 hrs to Nairobi, where the expedition ends, after lunch.
