Itinerary

1. Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

   • Start your three-day Masai Mara safari tour with a drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration. It is home to the big five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino).

   • Have lunch at the lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game run.

   • Enjoy the game drive. Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses in the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see. Residents of the park are Maasai giraffe, buffalo, eland, and thousands of plains game, including impala, zebra, topi, and both Thomson’s and grants gazelles.

   Overnight at the camp. The meal plan includes lunch and dinner.

2. Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve

   • Search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

   • Take an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

   Overnight at the camp.

3. Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi

   • Have an early morning tea/coffee or hot chocolate

   • Depart for a morning game drive. Here, you will find the old Africa of the movies, with rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with wildlife. No matter how much you have thought about Africa, this is more than you expected and the ideal backdrop for a hot air balloon expedition.

   • Enjoy a full English breakfast back at the camp and then depart for Nairobi by road.
