The journey
Sign up for this 4-day excursion and ascend Mount Kenya, the second-highest mountain in Africa, via the Sirimon route before descending through Naromoru. Starting from Sirimon Gate, hike to Old Moses Camp and Shipton's Camp, then reach Point Lenana Summit to admire the spectacular views of the African sunrise. This trek takes you through rainforest, valleys, campsites, and mountain landscapes before returning to Nanyuki.

At a glance
Day by day
You will be picked up from your hotel or residential place in Nanyuki town around 9:30 am. Start driving north and reach Sirimon Gate, the Mount Kenya park gate, in about 45 minutes.
Have lunch here and meet the rest of your climbing crew. Then begin your hike along a paved road through the rainforest, covering 9 km in about 3 hours to reach Old Moses Camp at 3300 m.
Overnight at the campsite.
Have an early breakfast and start trekking along a single trail up the hill, crossing Ontulili and Likii Valleys. Continue along Mackinders Valley to reach Shipton's Camp at 4200 m in 6-7 hours, with lunch along the way.

Wake up at 2:00 am, have a simple breakfast, and start trekking in the dark for 3 hours to Point Lenana Summit at 4985 m. From here, you will be rewarded with a spectacular African sunrise.
Take photos and then begin descending along the Naromoru route, passing Austrian Camp and Mackinders Camp.
Continue hiking through the wide Tereki Valley, filled with vertical bogs, and reach Met Station in about 5 hours for your overnight stay.

Have an early breakfast and start trekking down through the forest, with high chances of spotting wildlife, covering a distance of 9 km to reach Naromoru Gate at 2600 m.
Have a small celebration with your crew and board the vehicle back to Nanyuki for your onward destination to Nairobi.
