Description
Go on a full-day tour to Melka Kuntre & Adadi Mariam, and visit the archeological sites of Melka kunture, that many prehistoric archeological discoveries were found dating back 1.7 million years ago . Head to the Rochewn Church of Adadi Mariam built 900 years ago. Stop by Tia Stella which was erected 800 years ago as a grave marker for warriors.

Melka Kunture & Adadi Mariam
- Pick up from the hotel or the airport and drive southwest 36 km of Addis to visit the prehistoric archeological site of Melka Kunture.
- See the archeological museums which contains prehistoric stone tools made of Obsidian and another type of stone material, skulls dating back from 900,000 up to 1.7 million years.
- Head to the place where an early man used to slaughter hippos.
- Drive 23 km to Adadi Mariam (13 km bumpy road) to see the cave church made by king Lalibela (his last work after Rockhewen Churchs of Lalibela area).
- Move to one of the world heritage sites registered in 1980 E.C by UNESCO, the engraved Stellas of the warriors and heroes of those times.
- Have a picnic luch on the way (no suitable restaurants are available).
- Drive back to Addis Ababa and arrive at around 4:30 pm.
