Walk between various monasteries inside the forested Zeghe Peninsula where you can spot birds and vervet monkeys. It is also home to many indigenous trees. Enjoy a boat ride on the scenic Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile River. Go for a hike at Ararat Hill and visit the impressive monastery of Ura Kidane Mihiret on your trek downwards.

Lake Tana & Zeghe Peninsula Expedition
Have a refreshing breakfast. Meet your Ethiopian tour guide at your hotel and walk to the harbour.
Take a boat that will take you to the outlet of the Blue Nile, Lake Tana and gaze at hippos and birds. Witness fishermen with tankwa (a vessel boat made out of Cyprus papyrus plant) and head to the Mehal Zeghe Giorgis monastery, where the boat will drop you. Start your trekking on the peninsula.
Walk (1-1:30 hours) up to the Ararat Hill through evergreen forest and coffee plantation. While you walk through this route, you will have a chance to spot yellow fronted parrots, butterflies, monkeys, various forest birds and indigenous trees.
Have a scrumptious lunch with coffee under a tree.
Reach the hilltop and trek downwards to Ura Kidane Mihiret Monastery.
Walk down to the harbour and taste Arebica, the famous coffee.
Head back to Bahir Dar.
