Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Addis- Semera- Danakil

   • Take a flight from Addis to Semara and drive for about 5-6 hours to reach Hamed Ela.
   • Swim in Lake Afdera and have your lunch.
   • Visit lake Asale which is a lake with salt flats.
   • Enjoy wine or beer drink in the stunning place.
   • Experience swimming in the salt lake.
   • Enjoy open air camping at hamedela.

2. Day 2: Dalol- Erta ale (Volcano)

   • After breakfast, you will drive to the colorful attractions of Dalol which is located at -125 below sea level.
   • Visit the different landscapes formed by volcanic activity, Dallol, Lake Assal and camel caravans. 
   • Enjoy driving to Erta Ale for about 4 hours passing through a changing landscape of solidified lava Rock and sand after passing several small hamlets scattered here and there in this deserted Land. 
   • Have your short break and early dinner.
   • Start trek for about 1 hour to Ertale and experience watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava.
   • Trek back to the basic camp basement to spend the night and sleep under the stars.

3. Day 3: Ertale- Semera- Addis

   • Visit boiling lava again and have your breakfast.
   • Drive to Afdera for about 2 hours. 
   • Drive on asphalt road to Semera for about 3:30 hours.
   • Take a flight from Semera airport  to fly to Addis

   Stay overnight at hotel.

4. Day 4: Explore Lalibela

   • Take flight to Lalibela in the morning and upon arrival check in the hotel.
   • Explore the first group of Lalibela churches: Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Maryam, Bete Meskel, Bete Danaghel, Bete Mikael and Bete Golgotha which are connected through an underground tunnel with some boasting carved bas-reliefs and colorful frescoes.

   Relax and take rest at hotel in the night.

5. Day 5: Lalibela- Fly Bahir Dar

   • Explore the remaining churches of Lalibela then transfer to airport to fly Bahir Dar check in hotel then drive to Blue Nile Fall.
   • Visit any remaining churches of Lalibela.
   • Transfer to airport to fly Bahir Dar.
   • Check in the hotel after arriving and enjoy a scenic drive towards Blue Nile Fall.

   Relax and take rest at hotel in the night.

6. Day 6: Discover Bahir Dar- Gondar

   • Have your breakfast and enjoy a boat ride on the beautiful highland Lake Tana.
   • Discover beautifully decorated thatched roof monastery with their distinctive colorful frescoes of religious scenes and old manuscripts.
   • Have your lunch and set off early towards Gondar, taking in the stunning Ethiopian Landscapes along the way. 
   • Explore vast farming lands, small local villages and towns. 
   • Stop at the unique village.

   Check in hotel and rest in the night.

7. Day 7: Explore Gondar- Addis- Axum

   • Enjoy the castle and then get ready for the most colorful ceremony. 
   • Visit the city of Gondar and the drive to the Castles and Churches which were built by Emperor Fassiladas and his descendants. 
   • Explore the wonderful murals art at the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie (the Enlightening of Trinity).
   • Visit the Qusquam Church and drive to the airport to fly to Axum via Addis.
   • Check-in hotel in the afternoon.
   • Gain deep insights about the history of Axum which is the prime historical site in the north of Ethiopia. 
   • Visit St. Mary’s Church and the sanctuary Chapel which is the repository of the ‘Ark of covenant’.
   • Discover the coronation yard and the history of Stelae Park.
   • Explore the Queen of Sheba’s swimming pool, Queen of Sheba’s palace ruins and the Axum Museum. 
   • Enjoy the drive to Shera Town and take the flight to Addis Ababa.

   Stay overnight at the Yared Zema Hotel Axum.

8. Day 8: Farewell to Axum- Addis

   • Have your breakfast and then drive to Axum airport to fly back to Addis.
   • Enjoy traditional cuisine at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant as your farewell dinner with music and dance.
   • Drop-off at the airport.
