Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival + City Tour of Addis Ababa

   • Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by one of our guides and drive about 15 minutes to your hotel.

   • Have sightseeing of Addis, which includes visiting the National Archeological Museum of Addis Ababa, where the fossil remains of the oldest hominid – Lucy (3.25 mil years old) is sheltered at, Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa.

   • Drive to Mt. Entoto (3,200 meters) to have a panoramic view of Addis.

2. Day 2: Fly to Lalibela & Visit the Rock-hewn Churches

   • Early in the morning, drive to the airport for your flight to Lalibela. Formerly Roha, the present Lalibela town, assumed political importance as Aksumite Empire declined and ended its importance as a major political center after 1270 A.D.

   • After checking into Roha hotel, visit the first group of the magnificent rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, which are carved out of living volcanic tuff with a super architectural skill that the world has never seen yet, elsewhere.

   • These churches are registered as world heritage by UNESCO. Among churches of this group, Biete Medhane Alem (House of the Redeemer) is the largest, with 5 aisles, 72 pillars, a vaulted dome and moulding decoration. Bete Mariam (house of St. Marry) is the most decorated among the rock-hewn churches.

   • After lunch, visit the second group of the rock-hewn churches. Bete Emanuel (house of Emanuel) is architecturally the finest. Bete Giorgis (the house of George) is the finest of all the churches in Lalibela.

3. Day 3: Fly back to Addis Ababa & Departure

   • Fly to Addis Ababa and spend some free time in leisure.

   • In the evening, transfer to the airport for your international flight.
