Description
Visit Toledo, an ancient city set on a hill above the plains of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. Marvel at the old mosque of the Christ of the Light, the largest collection of paintings by El Greco in the Sacristy of the Cathedral, the Monastery of Saint John and the synagogue of Saint Mary the White.
After so many centuries of history in this town, with so many cultures living on it, we can see remainings from the times of the Romans, the Visigoths, Muslims, Jews and Christians.
Don't forget that Toledo used to be the capital of the kingdom before Muslims conquered it in the VIIIth century; and after the Reconquest in 1085, Toledo became again the capital, and it was until the XVIth century when the king Philip II moved it to Madrid.
