Itinerary
-
Old harbor (Marina)
- Meet your tour guide and visit the old piers used for centuries by fishermen and sea travellers. They are now a welcoming sight of sailboats and yachts for the world.
- Next, explore:
- St James' church: Built in the 12th century and repaired many times after fires and wars, its massive stone walls witness thousands of parishioners and pilgrims on their way to the shrine of Saint James at two walking days.
- St Mary's church: The most important church in the Old City to protect fishers and sea travellers. It stands on the highest ground and would have been visible from any place in town and the sea.
- Maria Pita Square: Coruna's main square is presided by the City Hall, and its name honours the memory of the local hero who was able to fight and repel Francis Drake assault in 1589.
- Mendez Nunez Gardens: Botanical gardens and beautiful architecture of kiosks and halls of the early 20th century.
- Praza de Lugo: This present shopping district was still under construction when Pablo Picasso moved in as a child in 1891.
