Full-Day Trip to Memphis, Saqqara, and Dahshur
- Pick up from your hotel in the morning in a private vehicle. Depending on your location, travel times may vary, but expect to reach your first destination within 30-45 minutes.
Stop 1: Memphis (Ancient Capital of Egypt)
- Arrive at Memphis, the ancient capital founded by King Menes around 3200 BC.
- Explore the ruins of the city, including the Colossus of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx, which are the most famous remnants of Memphis.
- Visit the Temple of Ptah, which was the center of religious worship for the god Ptah.
- Spend about 1 hour exploring Memphis.
Stop 2: Saqqara (Step Pyramid of Djoser)
- Drive to Saqqara, a short journey of about 20-30 minutes.
- Explore the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world’s first stone building, and observe how pyramid construction evolved over time.
- Visit the mastabas (tombs of dignitaries) and other smaller pyramids surrounding the area.
- Optionally visit the Serapeum, the burial site of the sacred bulls.
- Spend around 1.5 hours at Saqqara.
Stop 3: Dahshur (Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid)
- Drive from Saqqara to Dahshur (about 30-45 minutes).
- Visit the Bent Pyramid, which has an unusual shape due to a change in angle during its construction.
- Explore the Red Pyramid, Egypt's first true smooth-sided pyramid. You will have the chance to go inside and observe its internal chambers and ventilation shafts.
- Learn about the architectural advancements made by King Senefru, the founder of the 4th Dynasty.
- Spend around 1.5 hours at Dahshur.
Return to Your Hotel
- Head back to your hotel, which will take around 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
- Arrive back at the hotel in the late afternoon (around 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM).
