Old Cairo & Shopping Tour
- Pick up at 9:00 AM by your private tour guide, then transfer by modern AC van along the Nile’s East Bank where Old Cairo is located, also known as Masr Al-Qadima. Its heart is Coptic Cairo—home to a crumbled Roman fortress and numerous early medieval Coptic churches.
- See the ruins of the Fortress of Babylon and the hanging church which was erected on its towers.
- Visit St Sergius Church and see the crypt of the holy family.
- Go to the Synagogue and see one Islamic monument, either Amr Ibn Aas Mosque or Ibn Tolun Mosque.
- Enjoy lunch at a restaurant with a Nile view or at a restaurant in Al Azhar Park which is also a good chance to walk in the park and admire the panorama of Islamic Cairo.
- Proceed to Khan Khalili Market, which is one of the most interesting bazaars in Cairo. It is famous for its unusual oriental souvenirs and handicraft. The medieval atmospheres of this market offers a glimpse into what medieval markets were once like.
- Free time for walking in Muizz street, which is a part of Fatimid Cairo.
- Free time to stay at one of the old café shops such as El Fishawy café. Try Drinking Hibiscus, Karakadee, Hilba, Sahlab or any of the delicious typical Egyptian beverages.
