- Your tour representative will pick you up from your Cairo or Giza hotel. We will drive almost 210 kilometres to Alexandria City, the second-largest city in Egypt known as “The Pearl of the Mediterranean. Its great natural beauty and rich cultural and historical heritage make it one of Egypt's most preferred traveller's attractions. It was founded by the Macedonian leader Alexander the Great, who conquered Egypt in 332 B.C.
- You will start your Alexandria Tour from Cairo by transferring you to Alexandria guided by your knowledgeable tour guide in a modern air-conditioned vehicle for about two hours driving. We will stop at the nearest rest if you want to drink anything, use the toilet or stretch your legs.
- Start the Alexandria tour from Cairo by visiting the Pillar of Pompey, an architectural marvel located amidst the ruins of the Serapeum in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria. It is one of the largest places of Antiquity. The Serapeum was an ancient Greek temple built during the reign of the Ptolemaic kingdom in Egypt. It was dedicated to the new deity worshipped in Alexandria and all over Egypt, Serapis, who was believed to be the protector of Alexandria.
- Then, you will visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. These tombs represent the last great existing construction for the sake of the ancient Egyptian religion. The catacombs consist of three layers of tombs and chambers cut out of the rock under the ground and the beautifully decorated burial of a rich Romanized Egyptian family.
- Then you drive to visit the wonderful reincarnation of the famed ancient library of Alexandria. The original library held the largest collection of manuscripts in the world and was a great center of learning for 600 years until it burned down in the 3rd century. The New Library of Alexandria is the biggest library in the world now with 8 million books, the site of a lighthouse, and one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Enjoy a tour of the dramatically beautiful new library. Then you drive to the Roman Amphitheatre, the open-air museum for sunken monuments, unknown soldiers of Alexandria, and the statue of Alexander the Great, built east of Alexandria on a high hill and overlooking the most beautiful beach of Alexandria.
- then we proceed to see the Qaitbay Citadel, which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria, then to Bibliotheca Alexandria; named after the Mameluke Sultan Al- AsharfQaitbay, the Qaitbay Citadel in Alexandria is considered one of the most important defensive strongholds in the Mediterranean Sea. Visit the citadel that was used to formulate an important part of the fortification system of Alexandria in the 15th century A.D.
- Then you drive to Montazah Palace, the Summer Residence of King Farouk, the last king in the history of Egypt. Enjoy the embracing gardens blazed with colours and the beautiful architecture of the Montazah Palace. Then you drive along the Cornish to see the whole city passing over the bridge of Stanly landmark of modern Alexandria.
- Later, return to your hotel in Cairo or Giza to conclude the tour.
