Join us on a trip and explore the beautiful nature and history of the Egyptian desert with visits to the ancient highlights of the Museum of El Alamein and the Alexander Temple. Continue to the Mountain of the dead and marvel at the architecture of the Shali Fort. Enjoy the mesmerising springs at Cleopatra's bath and experience staying afloat in the salt lake.
Itinerary

Day 1- Visit the El Alamein Museum
- Meet your guide and drive to El Alamein (driving distance: 259 km). It takes 3 hours driving, and on the way, stop for a coffee break. (We recommend you take a packed lunch box with you.)
- Visit the El Alamein Museum, which gives good information about the battle of El Alamein. The museum, about 1 mile west of the British memorial, is located on the north side of the road, for anyone interested in the war Memorabilia, the tombs of the Italians and Germans, and the Commonwealth war graves.
- Drive to Siwa through Marsa Matrouh from El Alamein.
Overnight in Siwa hotel.

Day 2- See the Springs at Cleopatra's Bath
- Have breakfast and start your great adventure to the salt lake and the great sand sea.
- Proceed to the salt lake to get an amazing experience of swimming, where the water makes you float above. The salt lake has similar hyper-salinity properties to Jordan’s Dead Sea. This also means that the lakes hold great healing properties, much stronger than regular seawater. In all cases, they make for a wonderful swim!
- Drive to Cleopatra's Bath. The springs of Siwa are famous throughout the western desert. The Spring of the Sun or Cleopatra's bath has been mentioned by travellers to Siwa since the days of Herodotus. Legend maintains that Cleopatra swam here when she visited Siwa oasis.
- See the Great Sand Sea (by Jeep 4x4) and visit the hot and cold spring Bir Wahed. Later, enjoy some traditional Bedouin Tea by sunset.
- Spend the night in a desert Camp and have a delicious bbq dinner. Or you can even sleep in a hotel (We have nice Ecolodges in Siwa).

Day 3- Explore Siwa
- Have breakfast and start with Alexander the Great Temple, also known as the Temple of the Oracle. It is a spectacular temple, built during the twenty-sixth Dynasty. The temple and its oracle flourished into Greek and Roman times.
It is believed that Alexander the Great wished to consult the Siwan oracle to seek confirmation that he was the son of Zeus. The Greek god of gods, when he and his entourage arrived, A manifestation of the oracle was paraded through the city accompanied by eighty priests. After he visited the oracle, whenever his image appeared on the coin, Alexander was shown with the horns of the ram, the symbol of Amun, the god of gods in Egypt. - Proceed again to Cleopatra`s bath or The Spring of the Sun. The legend maintains that Cleopatra swam here.
- Head to The temple of Umm Ubaydah. Just 200 m further from the Temple of the Oracle, the temple was erected by the pharaoh Nectanebo of the 40th Dynasty.
- Visit Gebel Al Mawta or the Mountain of the Dead. It is a conical mountain a little over a kilometre to the north of Shali. Tombs from the twenty-sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and the Roman periods are cut into the side of the mountain, There are four tombs worth seeing at Gebel Al- Mawta.
- Enjoy the sunset at Fatnas. Fatnas is a small island in Birket Siwa. You can reach it by walk or bike. It is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the sunset. You will get a spectacular view of the lake, with Gebel Bayda and Hamra forming the backdrop to the west. Take a walk in the garden and see a variety of trees, including Banana, dates, and olives.

Day 4- Head to See the Shali Fort
- Have breakfast at the Camp at 07:00 a.m., then drive back to Siwa oasis.
- Visit Shali Fort, and spend your free time shopping.
- Drive to the Mountain of the Dead, a conical mountain a little over a kilometre to the north of Shali. Tombs from the twenty-sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and the Roman periods are cut into the side of the mountain. There are four tombs worth seeing at Gebel Al – Mawta.
- Head back to Cairo, passing by Marsa Matrouh.
