See the Fossil Remains at Whale Valley
- Meet the guide after our representative picks you up from your hotel in Cairo and transfer to start your adventure trip to Al Fayoum Oasis. The distance is 80 km southwest of Cairo.
- Drive on a Toyota land cruiser (4x4) to Wadi Al Hitan (driving distance of 69.2 km). Wadi Al Hitan is a protected area, and a World Heritage Site added in 2005 by UNESCO. It was discovered in 1936 (located 35 km west of the Wadi El-Ryan), right deep into the western desert. It is an area of fossils, considered an open museum, dating back to 45 million years and contains petrified primitive whale skeletons, shark teeth, shells, corals and roots of Mangroves preserved in soft rocks.
- Visit the Fossil & Climate Change Museum. The museum hosts a variety of whale fossils and skeletons displayed outdoors, as the museum has a variety of fossils, skeletons, fossilized mangroves, and ancient seashells exhibited indoors in glass boxes. Order a lunch of your choice at 14:00 p.m. at Wadi el Hitan resthouse, and you will get it by 15:00 p.m.
- Drive back to Tunis village passing through Wadi El Rayan, Wadi Hitan, and Mudawara Mountain.
- Arrive in Cairo by 19:00 p.m.
