Itinerary
-
Explore the Highlights of Luxor
- After breakfast, meet the tour guide at your hotel (in Hurghada) to start a wonderful Luxor day tour.
- Visit the Valley of the Kings, a portal to paradise used by the greatest kings and queens of Egypt's New Kingdom (1570-1070 BC). The valley contains 65 tombs filled with unique treasures, artifacts, statues, and phenomenal decorations, and the remains of pharaohs such as Ramses II, Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, and Tutankhamun. The Valley of the Kings became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979.
- Go to the Hatshepsut Temple, a vision from the paradise known as Djeser-Djeseru, "Holy of Holies", which is a symbol of idealism and allure that might belong to the most successful rulers in the history of ancient Egypt. Queen Hatshepsut dates back to 1479 BC, and it was dedicated to the creator god Amun and for honouring the great legacy of Hatshepsut. The temple's design is mesmerizingly brilliant based on the new kingdom's classical architecture style.
- See the Colossi of Memnon. Its two colossal blocks of quartzite sandstone, standing at 18 m (60ft) tall and weighing 720 tons each resemble Pharaoh Amenhotep III(1386-1350), who travelled a long way from Cairo to Luxor to become the protector of this great city. They were destroyed by an earthquake in 27 BC and reconstructed in 199 AD, then became famous during the Greco-Roman period because of 'The Vocal Memnon' phenomenon.
- Drive Southwest to discover the most famous of the ancient Egyptian workers, sculptors, and artisans, including the ancient tombs of the workers who finished the building process of ancient Egyptian archaeology and the wonderful temple of Hathor. Stop for your lunch in a local restaurant to enjoy the delicious, tasty Egyptian traditional food.
- Head to the Karnak Temple. It is the location where the heavens intervened and surrounded the place with grandeur and beauty. It was known as Ipet-isu, the Most Selected of Places, and the Pr-Inn House Of Amon when it was constructed more than 4000 years. It has been one of the biggest religious human-made constructions on earth for more than 1500 years and the worship center to various deities like Osiris, Ptah, and Isis but was dedicated primarily to the Theban triad, consisting of Amun, Mut, and Khnsou.
- Transfer back to your hotel in Hurghada by a private air-conditioned car to end the tour.
