Antisana Ecological Reserve Hiking Tour
Travel to Antisana Ecological Reserve and visit the Antisana Volcano, the most impressive Andean mountain near Quito and a sanctuary of the wild Andean condor and other birds.
Drive along the foothills of the volcano and arrive at the entrance of Antisana Park Reserve.
See the magnificent basaltic gorge of the Antisana Volcano.
Visit the wetlands, see some rare species of tundra plants and look for exotic Andean birds like the Carunculated Caracara and Black-Headed Ibis.
Look for Andean rabbits such as Sylvilagus Brasiliensis and whitetail deer called Oidecoileus virginianus.
Hike to the glacier of Antisana and then descend to the Micacocha Lake, where you have the chance to watch Andean gulls, speckled teals and the typical birds of the Andean water systems.
Observe and recognize the Andean floral species like the cushion plant, ranunculo plants, gentians, and others.
