Description
Quilotoa is a tourist site of growing popularity. The route to the "summit" (the small town of Quilotoa) is generally traveled by hired truck or bus from the town of Zumbahua, 17 km to the South, or more commonly by bus from Latacunga. Visitors may have to pay two US dollars each to look from the lip of the caldera. There are a number of simple hostels in the immediate area offering services such as mules and guides. Activities include a four to five-hour hike around the caldera

Full-Day Quilotoa Tour
Leaving Quito at 7:00 am, starting your three-hour trip through the Panamerican highway to the Quilotoa Crater Lake. Firstly, we will arrive in the small town of Saquisili and get to see their small market before we head to the lake; when we arrive, we will have a small hike up to the top, and we’ll go around the crater. We’ll then head down to the lake itself, where we’ll have fantastic views of its unique scenery. As we make our way back up, we’ll have the option of going back up on foot or on donkey back, which makes for a great experience. We’d be back in Quito at about 6:00 pm
