Ruins by the Sea: Unveiling Tipaza & Cherchell’s Ancient Secrets
- 8:00 AM – Pick-up from Algiers
- Start your day with a comfortable pick-up from your accommodation in Algiers. Enjoy scenic views as we drive along the beautiful Mediterranean coast to our first stop, Tipaza.
- 9:30 AM – Explore the Roman Ruins of Tipaza
- Arrive in Tipaza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and begin your guided tour of the ancient Roman ruins, including the amphitheatre, basilica, and harbour. Learn about the rich Roman history that shaped the town and the influence of Christianity and Byzantium in the area.
- 11:00 AM – Visit the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania
- A short drive takes us to the Royal Mausoleum, the grand resting place of King Juba II and Queen Cleopatra Selene. From this hilltop monument, soak in the panoramic views of the coast.
- 12:30 PM – Lunch: Fresh Grilled Fish and Traditional Sweets
- Enjoy a delicious lunch of freshly grilled fish at a local restaurant by the sea. After the meal, relax with traditional tea and sweets, experiencing Algeria’s culinary heritage.
- 2:00 PM – Drive to Cherchell and Explore the City
- After lunch, continue to the historical town of Cherchell, once known as Caesarea, the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Mauretania. Explore the rich blend of Roman and Phoenician history as you visit important landmarks and ancient sites.
- 2:30 PM – Visit the Cherchell Archaeological Museum
- Discover the museum's incredible collection of Roman sculptures, mosaics, and other artifacts. Learn more about the city’s past and its importance in North African history.
- 4:00 PM – Stroll by the Mediterranean Sea
- End your tour with a stroll along the coast, enjoying the refreshing sea breeze and beautiful views of the Mediterranean.
- 5:00 PM – Return to Algiers
- After a day of exploring history and culture, relax as we drive back to Algiers. The expected arrival time is around 6:30 PM.
