Description

Embark on a captivating journey through Djanet and the Tassili Plateau, exploring ancient rock art, stunning landscapes, and vibrant archaeological sites. Conclude with a city exploration in Djanet and a return flight to Algiers.

Itinerary

Day 1: Algiers / Djanet
- Arrival at Djanet airport
- Transfer to the city and stay at the Tadrart campsite or a local guesthouse.
Day 2: Djanet - Moul-Naga and El-Oued-Injeran
- Morning departure to the Moul-Naga site on the Tassili plateau.
- After launch and a rest break, continue to El-Oued-Injeran.
- Set up camp for the night (bivouac), enjoy dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 3: Djanet - Tin-Merzouga
- After breakfast, depart for an excursion to Tin-Merzouga, a region known for its magnificent landscapes, Neolithic rock carvings and paintings.
- Continue with a walk on the dunes and set up camp at the next bivouac location.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Djanet - Moul-Naga Dunes and Tin-Izerhen Plateau
- Early morning departure, crossing the Moul-Naga dunes and traversing the Tin-Izerhen plateau.
- Camp set up, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 5: Djanet - Tigharghart
- After breakfast, return to Djanet, passing through Tigharghart region to visit the famous "Crying Cows" rock art.
Dinner and overnight stay in Djanet.
Day 6: Djanet - Djabarhen
- After a night of rest, head to the Tassili de Djarbarhen for a round trip.
- Return to the residence for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Djanet - Tamrite and Sefar
- After breakfast, we depart for the Tamrite site and then continue to Sefar, one of the most significant archaeological sites in the region.
- Set up camp, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 8: Djanet - Sefar to Djanet
- Return to Djanet, passing through the Sefar site.
- Upon arrival, settle in at the residence for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Djanet to Algiers
- A day dedicated to exploring the city of Djanet, including visits to the Cultural Park Museum, the Ksars of Azelouaz and El-Mihan, and a stop at the local market for souvenirs.
- Enjoy a festive dinner at the residence before transferring to the airport for the return flight to Algiers.
Day 10: Departure
- Assistance with airport formalities and departure from Algiers.

Know Before You Go

Daytime: Expect hot desert temperatures, so light, breathable clothing is essential.

Nighttime: The temperature can drop significantly, so bring warm layers like a jacket or fleece.Sleeping Bag: Essential Essential Packing Items: for nights spent camping (bivouac) in the desert, Tote Bag (Cabas): Avoid heavy suitcases; a soft, packable bag is recommended.Toiletries: Bring a toiletry kit and wet wipes, as water may be scarce at some camping sites, Sun Protection: Hat or cap, sunscreen, sunglasses, and lip balm to protect against the desert sun, Comfortable Shoes: Good walking shoes or hiking boots are a must for desert excursions.Small Backpack: Handy for carrying water, snacks, and personal items during excursions.

The trip involves some walking, including over sand dunes.

Respect local customs, especially in Djanet and during interactions with local communities. Modest dress and polite behaviour are appreciated.

Hydration: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated in the dry desert climate.

Medical Kit: Bring basic personal medications.

No vaccinations are required before travelling to Algeria.

Expect limited or no cell phone service and internet access, especially during camping nights in remote desert areas.
