Explore the old city of Santiago
- Meet the guide at the accommodation.
- Start your trip with a panoramic tour of Moncada Barracks, the so-called trigger of the Cuban Revolution of 1959 and the icon of Santiago. Here, you can go into the museum for around 45 minutes, or you can get a panoramic tour from outside in about 20 minutes.
- Walk to Plaza de Marte and marvel at the statue of Jose Martí.
- Stroll through the Pedestrian Street Enramadas. On the way, see the Parque Dolores, Parque Serrano and Bacardi Arts History Museum.
- Arrive at Parque Cespedes, a beautiful city square surrounded by colonial and eclectic architecture.
- See the statue of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, who kick-started the Cuban Independence movement in 1868. Visit the House of Diego Velazquez, one of the best-preserved ancient houses in Cuba. Also, see the Cathedral, originally baroque styled.
- Make your way downhill to el Tivoli, the former French neighbourhood of Santiago and discover its history and eclectic architecture. Stop at Padre Pico Staircase.
