Alejandro Cano Ospina was born in October 28, 1965.His father is an internationally known cellist, who played with the Costa Rican Symphonic Orchestra for several years.Alejandro’s mother is a homemaker and always had an interest in sustainability and the environment, which she instilled in her three sons.From an early age, Alejandro was encouraged by his parents to explore and learn about the environment.This opened the door to the tourism field, which wherein lies his true passion.“I really enjoy the time I share with the many visitors that travel to our beautiful country.One of the things that I respect and admire the most is the wisdom of the indigenous peoples of the Americas.Currently, I am investigating the medicinal uses of trees found in Costa Rica.I am excited to share this information with as many people as possible during my tours so they can see the health benefits and the reasons to protect the environment, not only for ourselves but for future generations”.Alejandro inherited a desire to learn about the environment and sustainability from his mother.For over 20 years he has researched, developed, and implemented teaching modules for both youth and adults regarding new technologies to protect the planet- like solar energy, clean agricultural technics, culturally respectful tourism and ecotourism.Alejandro completed a certificate program from Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica in solar energy technology and a certificate program on hydroponics from La Universidad de Costa Rica.He is also licensed by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism as a certified tour guide in English and Spanish, also in a near-future hopefully will complete the studies in Japanese and German.Alejandro had the opportunity to travel and live in Hawaii, Israel, Colombia, and Panama to work and learn about tourism internationally.In his free time, Alejandro likes to visit Costa Rican’s Caribbean coast, he enjoys nature walks with his mother, and is an avid runner.
