My name is Owen Lackwood Scotland.I was born in Nicaragua and my parents are Nicaraguan.We moved to Costa Rica when I was 4 years old.I grew up in Puerto Limón and currently live in Tortuguero.After working in export companies and different fields of the tourism industry I became a naturalist guide in 2001.I started working in Tortuguero, this area became an open classroom for my.Here I learned everything about the rainforest and its treasures.OWEN TOURS The Tortuguero town was founded in the 30's of this cycle by a Colombian and San Andrés family.They came to Tortuguero to live off the export of coconut and sea turtles.In the 1940s, American timber companies arrived to exploit the forest.As there was work, the first immigration to Tortuguero began, mainly from Nicaragua.Currently the town of Tortuguero has an extension of 5km of public area and a total of 26,156 of protected area.The town has about 1700 inhabitants, mostly emigrant, and all fully dedicated to tourism.In the town there is a primary and secondary school, there is also a clinic, churches and different religions as well as several hotels and cabins.
