I am from a small village in the mountains in Sichuan Province. My family has been farming for many generations, growing rice and corn, and raising animals. After middle school, I began working in a restaurant and learned to cook Sichuan cuisine.Following this, I worked in a factory manufacturing traditional Chinese foods and condiments. My father was ill so I needed to help support the family from quite a young age. When I was nineteen my cousin, who was a Kung Fu Master with a school in Yangshuo, invited me to join him. After six months of Kung Fu practice, I began working in the Hotel industry when I realized I needed to learn English to find a successful career. As my English improved, I began working at reception and then as an English-speaking tour guide.I have wanted to have my own hotel ever since I began guiding my western clients.I thought that I had good insight into what it was that they might really appreciate.I found the building that was to become the Tea Cozy in 2010.My partner and I then began to design and renovate the hotel doing most of the building ourselves in our free time.It was a labor of love.We opened Tea Cozy in March 2012, and we have been so happy with its’ success.
