Northern Patagonia forest- Alerce Andino National Park
Start the tour between 8:30-9 am, from the city of Puerto Montt, a small port and industrial city founded by German settlers over 150 years ago. For tourists, this city is the gateway to Patagonia because many tours to Patagonia start from here.
Visit the main square, Cathedral, and observation deck in Puerto Montt, overlooking the whole Reloncavi Sound and the city.
Visit the Angelmo market, which is famous for fresh seafood and souvenirs.
Visit Alerce Andino National Park, an evergreen millennial rainforest.
Walk for about 5 miles (8 kilometres). Alerce or Fitzroya is one of the unique species of evergreen trees in this park, growing only in northern Patagonia. Some specimens are dated as 4000 years old. Fitzroya is considered one of the largest trees in South America.
Have lunch.
Return back to the hotel at around 16:30-17:30 am.
