Alerce Andino Park with Chapo Lake
- Visit Alerce Andino National Park, located 40 km east of Puerto Montt on the Carretera Austral.
- Explore the park's more than 20,000 hectares of millennial Alerces forest, the perfect place to visit the rainforest easily.
- Walk on the Ulmos trail, a silent road filled with huge adult trees of coigues, mañios, ulmos, melted líchenes, mosses, lianas and ferns.
- Hike the Alerce trail, which takes you up to a steep and long ladder where you can contemplate a 3 thousand-year-old specimen of the mythical Alerce tree.
- Optionally, walk the Sargazo Lagoon trail through the dense forest to the tiny and beautiful Sargazos Lagoon.
- Afterwards, head back to the cars and visit Chapo Lake, located between Alerce Andino Park to the south and the National Reserve Llanquihue to the north, and surrounded by native forest.
- Admire the result of glacier thaws from 20,000 years ago that flooded the forest and created the lake, giving us a glimpse of the importance and height of the old forest there millions of years ago.
- Later, return to Puerto Varas to conclude the tour.
