Iseltwald highlights
Leave Interlaken in the morning. Drive to reach Iseltwald, which is a traditional small village where the world seems to stand still at the picturesque lake of Brienz.
Take a stroll around and take pictures of the great view
Stop at the famous Giessbach Waterfalls above the lake of Brienz.
Get impressed by the 14 waterfalls. Go for a walk “under the waterfall” and visit the “magical place museum” or simply relax at the terrace of the Swiss historic Grand-hotel Giessbach. Enjoy the great view over the waterfalls and the turquoise green-blue lake of Brienz.
Ride with Europe’s oldest funicular down to the lake from where we take a boat to cross the lake to Brienz.
Have lunch and discover the traditional chalet houses. Stroll around the wonderful lake promenade and get some typical cow souvenirs from the local wood manufacturer.
Take a short drive to reach Meiringen and the Aare Gorge. From November until March the gorge is closed. Instead, you visit the incredible Lauterbrunnen Valley.
Visit the lake of Thoune. Enjoy the last beautiful viewpoint and relaxing place before returning back to the buzzing tourist town Interlaken.
