Description
Travel to the Orange Walk District, where the Lamanai Temple complex sits atop the western bluff of the New River Lagoon and is surrounded by pristine rain forest. It is the most interesting archaeological site in Belize and was once a principal city of the Maya civilisation, located in the north of Belize, in Orange Walk District.

Lamanai Ruins
Pick up from the hotel.
Drive for one hour from Belize City to the boating area.
Go on a one-hour boat ride to reach the site and observe the famous Lamanai ruins. Lamanai is the Maya word for submerged crocodile in the Maya language, and it's also the name of the third-largest and possibly most interesting archaeological site in Belize. Franciscan missionaries recorded the site's name Lamanay or Lamayna in the seventeenth century.
Spend around one hour at the site.
Return to Belize City by boat.
