Description
Praia do Forte is located on the Costa dos Coqueiros, 80 km north of Salvador (50 mi). It was founded in the 16th century by the Portuguese nobleman Garcia D'Ávila. There, he built one of the oldest forts in Brazil, giving rise to this charming fishing village. The place is part of an environmentally protected area dedicated to protecting and conserving its biodiversity and natural resources. It houses important scientific and educational attractions such as the Tamar project dedicated to protecting sea turtles. The locals are involved in this project and sell organic products from their farms. We will have the chance to try seafood appetizers and different coconut candies and see handicrafts made by women's associations. The guide will take you to my favourite beach to relax on a hammock under the coconut trees listening to the sound of the ocean while having a caipirinha! If you are like me, enjoy an easy local day without rushing and are also a foodie, this tour suits you.
