Description
Visit Niterói, a city in southeast Brazil, connected to Rio de Janeiro by a bridge across Guanabara Bay. Santa Cruz da Barra and Museum of Contemporary Art
Drive across the Rio-Niterói Bridge, along the coastline of Niterói, across the beaches from Boa Viagem.
Start the tour at the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is one of the beauties of Oscar Niemeyer and is considered a milestone in Brazilian architecture. A very futuristic structure with its aerodynamic shape similar to a flying saucer.
Explore the art collection of Joao Satamini, including an exciting array of Brazilian Contemporary Art of various Brazilian artists from all parts of Brazil, from the first half of the 20th century.
Go to the rural fishing village to reach Santa Cruz da Barra's beautiful fortress, the largest and most important fort of colonial military time. It was built by the end of the 16th century and was the first fortress made to protect Guanabara Bay's entrance.
Eat lunch at a seafood restaurant in the fisherman village.
