Description
Join us on this tour and experience the history and culture of the old Bengali nation, Sonargaon, from the history of the Mughal Empire to the British transformation. Visit the Goaldi Mosque and the Sonargaon Folk Art and Craft Museum to witness the golden era of Bangali history. Explore the ancient Bengal capital of Panam city and enjoy a boat ride on the river Meghna, one of the three major rivers in Bangladesh.

Explore the Ancient Capital of Bangla
- Meet the tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel or residence (or airport) in Dhaka City and start moving towards Sonargaon (approx. 1 to 1.5 hours). (9:00 to 9:45 a.m.)
- Visit Goaldi Mosque, built in 1519 A.D. in the village of Goaldi in Sonargaon by Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan during the reign of Sultan Hussain Shah. It is one of the ancient Mosques of Bangladesh. We will take a little tea break here. (11:00 to 11:30 a.m.)
- Go to the Main Building (Prasad), King Isa Kha’s palace. Now, it is used for the Folk Art and Craft Museum and covers the newly constructed building of folk art. We walk through the whole campus to explore the ancient capital of Bengal. (11:30 to 12:30 p.m.)
- Explore Panam City, which was built in 1500 A.D. Some wealthy Hindu Lords operated their business here and made a city to live in with all facilities. The area divided by a single road is the main colonial system buildings. Those artistic buildings will take us to ancient Bangla. (12:30 to 1:30 p.m.)
- Stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant with local food that may be a little spicy and hot. (Please let us know after booking if you have special needs.) (1:30 to 2:00 p.m.)
- Take a little rest under a greenwood tree and enjoy some gossip. (2:00 to 2:30 p.m.)
- Head to Meghna River to ride on a boat. Meghna is one of the three major rivers in Bangladesh. Sonargaon is situated on the bank of the river Meghna. (2:30 to 4:00 p.m.)
- Return to the hotel or residence in Dhaka City. (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.)
