Sheki - the capital of Silk, Sweets and Wine.
- The trip starts early in the morning in Baku. Today, we will drive through the picturesque mountain pass to the northwest of Azerbaijan. The road will take you deep into forests to the foothills of the Greater Caucasus.
- On arrival at Sheki, you can taste local unusual cuisine, recharge your energy, and start exploring the area.
- Our tour takes you to the castle dating back to the XVIII century, where local feudal knights fought for independence against Iranian invaders.
- Here, you will visit a masterpiece of XVIII c. a Palace of Sheki's Khans, decorated by handmade ornaments and colourful puzzled windows "shebeke".
- After the palace, you will have a chance to participate in the window workshop at the crafts house of the local master. Sheki city tour continues with the Karavansaray, a middle-aged hotel where you can try local sweets and find original silk scarfs, "kalagai", considered a UNESCO heritage. Karavansaray is followed by a royal mosque where a tiny ethnographical museum is opened to the public.
- Your Sheki tour includes visiting the oldest Christian temple in Caucasus, dated back to I c. A.D.
- You will drive to the village of Kish to explore the beautiful mountain view and this isolated temple converted into a museum.
- At the end of your trip to Sheki, you will stop at Sheki Winery and Museum, where the most modern and unique Museum of Wine History is open to the public. Here, you will submerge into the history of winemaking and the process of wine production, and you will have a chance to try the local indigenous wine created by our best enologists.
- Our program ends with free time at the winery for lunch or wine tasting, and then you drive back to Baku full of new impressions and memories.
