Stepanavan Dendropark, Sanahin and Haghpat Monasteries

- Dendropark was founded in 1933 by the Polish biologist Edmond Leonovich, who was so delighted with the amazing nature of Armenia that he built a house here and decided to open the botanical park. The botanical park is located near the city of Stepanavan, in the Lori region in the north of the Republic. In the vast territory of the park, you will see a huge number of deciduous trees of different species, as well as many species of rare plants brought from around the world. The son of the founder of the Dendropark now runs the park itself. The Dendropark is an ideal place for lovers of eco-tourism and walks in pure nature.
- Sanahin Monastery is located in the village of the same name, near the administrative center of the Lori region, the city of Alaverdi. This famous medieval monastery dates back to the 10th century and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. For many centuries, it served as the cultural center of this region, where there was a library, an academy, and the famous scriptorium, the place where manuscripts were copied. Also inside the complex is the tomb of some members of the Zakaryan royal family.
- Surrounded by majestic gorges, Haghpat Monastery is located 10 km from Sanahin, in the village of the same name. Like Sanahin Monastery, it was built in the 10th century by Tsar Ashot III and has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996. An ancient manuscript, the Mugni Gospel, was kept in the monastery complex and is now stored in Matenadaran. At the monastery, you will have the opportunity to explore the ancient architecture and the amazing nature around it.
