Best of Sarande
- From Saranda (your hotel, center of the town, port), we will drive to Butrint National Park (25-30 min by car). It is a real hidden gem surrounded by nature, always green, and it fits vegetation where it feels good every season. A place where you can easily imagine and understand how constructions and life evolved from the 4th century BC to the present.
- We will take a 1.5 - 2 hour tour inside the ancient city, where we will visit the Theatre, the Forum, the Grand Basilica, the Baptistery, and the Venetian Castle at the top of the hill.
- With every step you take inside Butrint, you will hear the birds singing and the pleasant smell of the laurel trees, which have been there since Cesar. The beauty of the lake ( Butrinti Lake) that surrounds the ancient city makes it more mysterious and wonderful. A nice breeze will follow you through the tour, even during the high-temperature days in July and August.
- To continue the day, it is a must to taste local products: cheese, jams, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, wine (red, white, and rose), and raki, the Albanian traditional alcoholic drink.
- After the wine and snacks, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the region from Lekursi Castle, situated at the top of one of the hills overlooking the city of Saranda.
- As the final part, we will take a short walk in the city to explore and enjoy local sweets before departure.
- Drive back to the town and the pick-up place.
