Meet your tour guide and head to Durres city, which lies on the Adriatic coast and is the main commercial port of Albania. Durres, Albania's second-largest city, was known formerly as Dyrrachium, one of the oldest towns in the country. Legend says it was founded by Epidamnos, the Illyrian King of the area, who called it by his name and named the port area after his grandson. It was for centuries the largest port on the Adriatic and the start of the Via Egnatia to Constantinople/Istanbul.
