Visit Tirana step by step
- Firstly, visit the Mother Teresa Square, which is the second largest square in Tirana, Albania. It is named after the Albanian-born Indian Roman Catholic nun, missionary, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mother Teresa. It surely does inlude more history in it.
- Then go to the Pyramid of Tirana that is a structure and former museum located in Tirana, the capital of Albania. It opened as a museum in 1988 and became a conference center in 1991 following the collapse of Communism. During the 1999 Kosovo War, the building was used as a NATO base.
- After that visit the Former Residence of Enver Hoxha in Blloku which is a three-story home that once belonged to Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha. The interior is now closed to the general public, but a walk along the street shows the communist architecture that was so prevalent at the time.
- Then, head towards the Museum of Secret Surveillance, also known as House of Leaves is a historical museum in Tirana, Albania. It opened on 23 May 2017 in the building that served as the Sigurimi's headquarter during the communist era.
- Then move forward to the Resurrection Cathedral which is an Albanian Orthodox church situated in the center of Tirana, Albania. It is considered among the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the Balkans.
- End your tour by visiting the Skanderbeg Square which is the epicenter of the capital, surrounded by some of the most important buildings of the country. The space was initially designed in a circular shape by three architects of Mussolini’s Italy: Florentano de Fausto, Gherardo Bosio and Armando Brasini. It was in 1937 that the square was given the name of the Albanian national hero.
