Myanmar is a sovereign state in South East Asia. It has very long and interesting history dating back over 20,0000 years ago. Myanmar used to be a colonial country during British rule and was colonized at that time. Myanmar became an independent country on January 4 in 1948. The country started practicing democracy after gaining freedom from British.
There are seven states and seven regions in total, namely; Yangon,Mandalay,Ayeyarwady, Bago, Saging, Magwe, Taninthari, Shan, Kachin,Chin,Mon, Kayin,Kayah and Rakhine. Each state and region has its own outstanding places. Things to see in Yangon is the massive Shwe Da Gon pagoda,which is the oldest and most beautiful pagoda in Myanmar. It is said that this pagoda is enshrined by four relics of previous Buddhas.
Other popular attractions includes colonial buildings, amusement parks and others. To name a few, Mandalay Palace, Pwinoo lwin hill station, Bagan( there have over 3000 ancient pagodas), Mout Popa(extinct volcano), Saging hills, Mgwe etc.
Now, Moygyi natural lake is a beautiful lake wherein you can watch migrant birds, and also enjoy views of famous pagodas, Phu ancient city views
(over 2000 years old), Ayeyarwady river, and also observe ways of life of local people. In the Shan state, is the wetland lake of Inle Lake. One can also explore the Kayin state for natural caves,waterfalls and pagodas. Then, the Chin state is famous for it's Natma Taung sanctuary. Mon state is famous for the Kyikhti pagoda.
Overall, there are over 8 majority ethnic groups and over 100 minorities ethnic groups in Myanmar with different cultures, traditions and languages. Their unique things are smile and warm hospitality. Then, over 90 % of people in Myanmar are Buddhists, others are christian, Islam,Hinduism etc. There are 12 months in Myanmar lunar calendar, each month has its own festivals such as water festival in April, lighting festival in October etc.
The best time to visit Myanmar is form August to May, during these months, it does not rain and the weather is pretty nice.
