Mantua is a lovely small town in the North of Italy, close to many other well-known cities, like Verona, Bologna, Milan and Venice.
Still not touched by mass tourism despite its Renaissance legacy, it is the ideal place to travel to enjoy a sort of slow tourism.
Excellent food, combined with gorgeous castles, museums and villas, make Mantua a must-see. Not to forget is the environment as Mantua is one of the greenest towns in Italy. Its three lakes make it unique and romantic and give you the chance to organise boat trips. Some famous past characters will show up in different places through anecdotes, statues and other traces.
As a licenced guide, working in Mantua since 2004, I'll be glad to show you around to the most beautiful and special places but also lesser-known you wouldn't probably find by yourself. Insider tips are the ones that very often make a difference!!
