Umbardere is located in an about 100 meters high valley to the northwest of Koytendag. The waterfall drops from a height of 27 meters, the width of its landing site is 5-6 meters, and it extends to several meters as it descends. The valley is about a kilometre long, and it is easy to get to where the waterfall descends.

The name of the waterfall is related to the legend. Once upon a time, there was a shepherd named Umbar who overseed grazing cattle in this valley. He learned to jump down from the waterfall. People were amazed at his intrepidity. They then began to call it the Umbardere. Another legend exists about the waterfall is about the warrior Umbar, who jumped over the gorge and hid from the enemies under the streams of water.
