More importantly, this Malaysian capital ticks off all the slots in providing entertainment for all members of the family, more so the kids! No matter where you are in Kuala Lumpur, there’s always some sort of recreation available for children. This Kuala Lumpur guide provides tips to ensure a memorable getaway by keeping the kids in the family entertained!

 

1. The KL Bird Park

Birds fly free in this amazing 30-acre walk-through aviary, with everything from hornbills and peacocks to parrots and flamingos. A unique, interactive experience for the entire family.

2. Aquaria KLCC

An aquarium located underneath the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, this massive exhibit houses underwater tunnels, marine life from around the world, various exhibitions and hands-on learning centers. Covering everything from river and stream life to flooded forest and ocean dwellers, the aquarium is entertaining, informative and visually stunning. The aquarium is open every day from 10:30 AM - 8 PM.

3. Petrosains Discovery Center

A hands-on science center with a big focus on the oil and gas industries. Though this doesn’t sound super kid-friendly, the center is quite interactive and interesting. With exhibits on wildlife, microorganisms, dinosaurs etc., there’s something to grab the attention of kids of all ages here.

4. KL & Petronas Towers

Two of the city’s iconic structures, a visit to KL is not complete without visiting these amazing buildings. KL Tower has some stunning 360-degree views of the city and interesting sites within the grounds as well. Petronas (Twin) Towers make for another imposing site, even when just standing at their base and craning one’s neck to look up at them. 5. National Science Center

Located in the northern part of the city, the science discovery center has a number of exhibits, displays and galleries that change throughout the year. With interactive learning centers, hands-on experiments for all ages and a helpful, well-informed staff, this is a great educational experience for young ones.


Parks and Gardens:

6. Butterfly Park

Located in Kuala Lumpur’s Lake Gardens area, this beautiful park is one of the world’s best collections of butterflies (over 5,000!). Also home to exotic plants, Japanese Koi fish, turtles and various insects, this park is a unique experience not to be missed in KL.

7. KL Lake Gardens

The area surrounding the Butterfly Park, this beautiful green spread has playgrounds for the young ones, exercise areas for the older kids and adults, paddleboat ponds, a planetarium, National Mosque, and beautiful flower gardens. A great place to let off steam or relax during some down time in KL.

8. KLCC Park and Playground

Situated at the foot of the Petronas Towers, this massive park area is home to some great play sets for kids, walking trails, shallow pools and picturesque fountains. With the Suria Mall nearby, all members of the family should be kept content here!

 

The Fun Spots:

9. Skytrex Adventure

An outdoor education center, kids are sent into the treetops of this adventure park where they can trek, glide, crawl and swing through the forest canopy. Various challenges are created for kids of different ages, where one can make out that safety is kept at top priority. A fun, hands-on KL experience and a great way for the kids to expend some energy.

10. Sunway Waterpark

Generally a kid’s favorite getaway in KL. Home to a colossal wave pool, surf beach and a huge number of different water rides for all ages… nothing beats a day at the water park!

11. Berjaya Times Square

Home to some of the city’s best shopping, Times Square is an all-in-one kind of stop. With some great food options, an entertaining theme park inside, a massive bowling alley and huge cinema- this is the city’s mega entertainment stop.
