The Danakil Depression, also known as the Afar Triangle, is a geological depression where three tectonic plates - the African, Arabian, and Somali plates - converge. This convergence has created a rift valley, causing the depression to sink further below sea level over millions of years. The depression boasts a surreal landscape that appears with vibrant colours caused by mineral-rich hot springs at the salt flats of Dallol, almost creating a mesmerizing and alien-like atmosphere. Also, the Erta Ale volcano, as one of the few continuously active volcanoes in the world, showcases its fiery lava lake, which illuminates the night sky.
