Tower of London
Seeking out London’s history can lead to some pretty gruesome revelations, and one can safely say there are none more gruesome than the Tower of London. Reveling in its violent history the Tower is a well-preserved historical landmark giving visitors a truly informative experience.
Tate Modern
Located on the picturesque Southbank and situated within the former Bankside Power Station, Tate Modern’s industrial architecture provides the most incredible gallery spaces in the capital. Entrance is free and leads you through some of the most important modern art in the world.
The Globe Theatre
Intrinsic to the Tudor London backdrop was the Globe Theatre; the stage that played host to Shakespeare’s plays cementing themselves in cultural history. This replica building is true to the original and if you are lucky enough to catch a performance you will not be disappointed.
The Victoria and Albert Museum
This is an incredibly diverse museum housing some of the most incredible antiquities from all around the globe. From marble statues to textiles, fashion and furniture it’s a real cave of wonders. Entrance is free though special exhibitions require you to purchase tickets.
St Paul’s Cathedral

The Shard
The latest addition to the London skyline is The Shard, the tallest building in the EU. The incredible structure is by London Bridge and affords some of the best restaurants in the capital. Trips to the top bring you the highest viewing platform in London and panoramic views of the capital.
The National Gallery
Situated on the iconic Trafalgar Square the National Gallery is home to some of the most iconic paintings in the world. To explore the entire building may take some time but entrance is free and you are surrounded by some of the most historic architecture in the capital.
Regent’s Park
It’s hard to pick just one park that London has on offer but Regent’s Park is definitely one of the best. Home to London Zoo and amongst some of the most famous streets in London such as Baker Street and Abbey Road this park is a lovely way to while away the time.
Houses of Parliament and Westminster
In order to see British Politics in action a trip to Westminster is in order. Big Ben’s chimes ring over the area and you can pay a visit to Westminster Abbey and have a look if the Prime Minister is home at 10 Downing Street.
British Museum
Located in Holborn the British Museum houses some of the most valuable antiquities in the world. The building itself is an incredible juxtaposition of modern and classical architecture. The Ancient Egyptian Mummies, the Rosetta Stone and the Parthenon Sculptures are just some of things on display.
The Thames/Southbank
You will more than likely encounter The Thames more than once on your visit to the capital but it is worth spending the day ambling along the Southbank. Home to the National Gallery, the London Eye and London Aquarium the Southbank offers the perfect backdrop to view some of London’s most famous sights.
