Places to Watch Fireworks in Dubai at New Year Eve 2020

Dubai is known for going all out during New Year’s celebrations. The stunning Burj Khalifa fireworks are one of the most televised events during the New Year's Eve Dubai 2020. There are numerous places in Dubai where you can go and watch the dark canvas of the Dubai sky getting painted by the hues of the fireworks. Here is a list of the places that you can visit to witness the magic of fireworks and begin the New Year 2020 with lights and happiness.


Burj Khalifa

You will not find a better place to see the stunning Burj Khalifa fireworks 2020 than the footsteps of Burj Khalifa. Thousands of people are present at the waterfront to watch the light and sound show that happens at the midnight, so make an early entry to bag the best spot. Additionally, you can book yourself a table at the waterfront near Dubai Mall to get a good seat. This is definitely the best time to visit Burj Khalifa in all its glory!

Note: Plan ahead to avoid traffic. The Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa road will close at 2 PM and the access to the Fountain Area will also be restricted at 4 PM. So, leave early so that you can reach on time and grab a spot that allows you to have the best views.

Road closures
Al Asayel Street: Closed at 4 PM. Will only be open for buses and emergency vehicles.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard: Closed starting 5 PM
Happiness Street: Closed at 6 PM from Roda Al Murooj intersection; closed from 8 PM from Zabeel intersection, closed from Emirates Towers roundabout at 10 PM.
Financial Center Road: Closed from 8 PM, both upper and lower levels.
Al Sukouk Street: Closed from 8 PM.

Dubai Metro
Burj Khalifa station: Closed from 10 PM till 6 AM the following day. During this time, you may use DIFC or Business Bay metro stations.

Souk Al Bahar

The Souk Al Bahar is located just across the bridge from the Dubai Mall, an exquisite dining and shopping Festival in 2020. Many restaurants such as Serafina and Karma Kafe also provide amazing views of the fireworks.

Note: The access is free. But, if you are planning to dine at one of the restaurants, book your seat in advance.


Burj Plaza 

This open-air promenade is one of the best places to watch the New Year's eve Dubai 2020 fireworks. There are a lot of restaurants where you can get an uninterrupted view of the fireworks.

Atlantis, The Palm 

There is no better place to be than Atlantis The Palm New Years' Eve for an unforgettable evening. Book yourself a room at the resort and the Royal Gala Dinner under the shadow of the dazzling stars.

Note: Book your room and the ticket to the Royal Gala Dinner well in advance as the tickets sell out like hotcakes.


Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk

The 11km walkway which runs from the Rixos Hotel on the crescent’s east side to One&Only The Palm on the west provides excellent spots for viewing the Atlantis fireworks. If you move closer to the Rixos side of the crescent, you will be able to get a look at the Burj Khalifa fireworks as well.   

Note: The access is free. Bear in mind that the road is restricted to control the traffic during New Years’ Eve so plan accordingly.


The Pointe

The Pointe is located across the bay from the Atlantis, The Palm. This waterfront complex features upscale shops, restaurants, and attractions that you can explore while you wait for the fireworks to light up the sky. We suggest you book a table at one of the restaurants so that you can enjoy your evening.

Note: The access is free. You need to book in advance for the restaurants as it will be crowded.


Burj Al Arab

The magical Burj Al Arab New Years' Eve fireworks are a spectacular view. If you wish to watch the fireworks in peace, head to Kite Beach. You can lie on the sand and watch the sky bedazzled by breathtaking fireworks. It is an unmissable sight indeed!

Note: The access is free. Get an early head-start so that you can grab a nice spot.


Global Village Dubai

The Global Village New Year Eve features a massive display of fireworks. The fireworks take place as seven countries bring in the New Year. The fireworks take place after the countdown to New Year takes place in seven countries across seven different time zones. The countries are China (20:00 hrs), Thailand (21:00 hrs), Bangladesh (22:00 hrs), India (22:30 hrs), Pakistan (23:00 hrs), UAE (24:00 hrs), and Russia (1:00 hrs).

Note: You can book your tickets to the Global Village in advance as the tickets might sell out fast.


La Mer

This is one of the best places to see the fireworks. The Bungalow, at LA Mer, the first licensed bar at the Laguna Waterpark has a huge event planned for LA Mer New Year Eve. The trendy beach side bar promises a mind-blowing countdown to the New Year with a view of the stunning firework display- including two custom-built firework boats on the water for the greatest show.    

Note: The packages for the show start at DHS 300. The package includes free-flowing house beverages and sparkling wine and extends to the two floors of the arena.


Abu Dhabi


Abu Dhabi Corniche

New Year celebrations are incomplete without fireworks. If you are in Abu Dhabi, you can head to Abu Dhabi to witness a spectacular display of fireworks light up the dark canvas of the Emirati sky. Moreover, the waterfront offers a stunning reflection of the fireworks multiplying the happiness of the approaching New Year.


Al Maryah Island

Stunning fireworks take place at this hot-spot every New Year’s Eve. Numerous events and festivities also take place on this Island. The place attracts more than 10,000 guests every year for these events.


Yas Island

This is one of the most favourite places for New Year celebrations in Abu Dhabi. A spectacular display of fireworks paints the sky in different hues at the Yas Island New Year Eve. You can also enjoy events, activities and delectable cuisines at Yas Island. You can see the sky brighten up while you down a drink or more than that!


Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival

New year events in Abu Dhabi are much awaited. One of the main events is the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival. This amazing festival is celebrated every year to conserve the cultural heritage of the UAE in particular and the total heritage of the civilizations of the world. Mostly, it starts in December and concludes by the end of January. The place enlivens drastically when the new year celebrations start.
