A nice hike in the Nervia Valley rising one of the highest Mediterranean peak :

The Toraggio, 6.473 feet high ( 1973 meters) , so rocky and tall that it is called Ligurian Dolomite; but there is another reason to enjoy this place, this area is the richest region of flower endemism of the whole Alps . And also is very rare to rise so high and still watch the sea so near; perhaps because this peak was on the bottom of sea no more than 30 millions years ago!

We will appreciate ( in the right season, from April to July ) the beauty of a lot of rare flowers ; from the Peony to the Fritillary , from the Narcissus to some types of Liles .

There are two ways to rise , one has a higher rise level but is easier , the other has a couple of narrow passages but the path pass through marvellous places . In both cases the last 300 hundred meters are on a rocky ridge with a first grade difficulty .

But there is also the possibility to enjoy the place rising on another mountain faced the Toraggio with a nice path without difficulty.

These are the technical information:

From Colla Scarassan to mount Toraggio : Rise 2.952 ( 900 meters) walking time 6 hours

From Colla Melosa to mount Toraggio: rise 2.132 feet (650 meters) Walking time 6 hours

From Colla Melosa to mount Pietravecchia : rise 1.804 (550 meters) feet Walking time 4 hours
